Advocacy Programs

MITRA Samaj possesses a wealth of expertise, knowledge, and skills in crafting advocacy strategies and plans. This includes the ability to build constituencies, forge coalitions and alliances, conduct comprehensive research, formulate evidence-based advocacy messages, engage in outreach and media initiatives, establish effective communication with government officials and decision-makers, and diligently monitor the implementation of government policies.

Furthermore, MITRA Samaj has a proven track record of conducting the Advocacy Readiness Index (ARI) for ten Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) as part of the USAID-funded “Civil Society: Mutual Accountability Project (CS:MAP).” This process involves assessing the strengths and weaknesses of partner CSOs, followed by the facilitation of various training sessions on the advocacy cycle and the organization of workshops for developing advocacy strategies and plans. In its capacity as an Intermediary Service Organization (ISO), MITRA Samaj provides essential technical support to these ten CSOs in crafting advocacy strategies and plans on critical issues related to health, education, agriculture, and disaster management. MITRA Samaj not only assists in building constituencies and forming coalitions and linkages but also offers training, coaching, and mentorship to partner CSOs in conducting research, formulating evidence-based advocacy messages, engaging in outreach and media campaigns, establishing connections with government officials and decision-makers, and meticulously overseeing the implementation of government policies.

Currently, MITRA Samaj is executing a UNICEF-funded project in Nepal titled “Strengthening Public Finance Management/Public Finance for Children in Nepal Through Citizen Engagement in Budgetary Processes.” This initiative aims to enhance citizen engagement in budgetary processes, involving collaboration with government bodies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to foster participation and document existing mechanisms. The project’s objectives encompass raising public awareness concerning Nepal’s fiscal planning, educating and actively involving the public in public finance management, enhancing the capacity of municipal bodies in budget planning, defining mechanisms for citizen participation, fostering collaboration between the government and civil society, and other key elements aimed at improving public finance management and promoting the well-being of children in Nepal.
