Mr. Govinda Bahadur Basnet is a development professional and a lawyer with proven experience in capacity development of CSOs, advocacy, policy dialogue and advocacy, social mobilisation, institutional linkages, good governance, research, public service oversight, social accountability, project planning and supervision, and many more.
A Master’s degree in Rural Development and Bachelor’s degree in Law, Mr. Basnet – before joining MITRA Samaj – had worked in Poverty Alleviation Fund as Program Manager, SNRTP DoLIDAR as Social Safeguard Consultant (SSC), MoFALD/LGCDP/UNDP as Urban Governance Expert, Nepal Biogas Promotion Association as Company Helpdesk Manager, UCEP Nepal as Field Officer, NDVS (UNV) as Assistant Municipality Facilitator (AMF), and FIRDO as Social Mobilizer.
At present, Mr. Basnet is working as Capacity Development Specialist for ‘Enhancing CSO and Media Capacity for Constructive Government Engagement and Public Oversight’, a sub-project under USAID-funded and FHI360-led five-year Civil Society: Mutual Accountability Project (CS:MAP) and is supporting CSO partners in institutional development, along with supporting them in conducting advocacy on priority issues and making CSOs legitimate, accountable, and resilient.
